Velas
Casa do António is located in the beautiful town of Velas, the center of the municipality and near iconic places such as Fajã do Ouvidor, Fajã da Ribeira da Areia, Fajã d’Além in the parish of Norte Grande; Fajã das Almas in the parish of Manadas, Fajã de Vasco Martins in the parish of Santo Amaro, and Fajã de João Dias in the parish of Rosais.
The viewpoints along the way are not to be missed – the Whale Lookout (Vigia da Baleia) in Rosais, recently restored, is a must-see when visiting the island’s tip, as are the forest parks, namely Parque das Macelas in Santo Amaro and Parque Florestal das Sete Fontes in Rosais.
Don’t forget the sea just 50 meters from Casa do António, where you can plan a boat trip along the island’s coast and marvel at the green slopes dotted with small waterfalls.

São Jorge Island
São Jorge Island, located in the heart of the archipelago, is undoubtedly a must-visit when traveling to the Azores. Not only for its magnificent landscapes, which always offer views of another island on the horizon (Pico, Faial, Graciosa, and Terceira), but also for its customs and traditions, the hospitality – the main characteristic of the people of São Jorge – and the activities available that appeal to all kinds of people and ages. If you are adventurous, you can explore the dozens of hiking trails that run along the island’s slopes; if you just want to relax, you can head to one of the many fajãs, sit on a rock feeling the sea breeze, read a good book, and enjoy the scenery.
Festivities
In April, celebrate the Saint George festival in the municipality of Velas;
In June, the Velas Cultural Week animates São Jorge and the other “triangle islands.”
